Between the US and Iran, the growing tone of the Iran-US tensions, Indian Navy is going to deploy its officers on the Indian tankers coming from the Persian Gulf. On Thursday, Iran had killed a US drone, saying it was in its territory, although the United States protested against it saying that its drone was flying in the international airspace. Officials said that the drone was killed near the Harmuz watershed. Angered by this incident, American President Donald Trump tweeted, "Iran made a mistake." In response to this, Trump has ordered an attack on Iran but withdrew its order just hours before the attack began.
Iran today said that it had undisputed evidence that the American drone violated its air force. This incident caused tension between the two countries. It is noteworthy that in the water sector two tankers were attacked more than a week ago and the United States attributed Iran to this attack.
According to the information, Indian Navy is planning to deploy its officers on the tankers coming from Persian Gulf Bay. Each Navy team will have one officer and two naval personnel. These teams will be loaded from the helicopter on the tankers where the helicopter is decked or will reach the boat. These naval teams will take Indian oil tankers out of the Hermitage Strait.
Every day 5 to 8 Indian tankers pass through the Gulf of Persia. These giant tankers bringing crude oil come every day from the Persian Gulf and who play an important role in meeting the needs of India's energy security. More than 63% of India's crude oil comes in the way. Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran, UAE and Kuwait are the major countries to which India has business.
On Friday afternoon there was also a meeting with DG Shipping, Navy and the Indian shipbuilding association. On June 13 and 16, DG Shipping asked to take adequate security measures from the Indian ships using the Harmuz reservoir by issuing advisory. All these vessels are being monitored by the Navy's Information Fusion Center located in Gurgaon.
Indian Navy's INS Chennai and INS Sunyan have been deployed in the mission. Also, Indian Navy aircraft are also involved in air surveillance in the field.
